Making a Will

Why is it important ?

Sometimes people say “I don’t need a Will – everything I own will automatically go to my spouse or partner”

However this is far from guaranteed.

If you are not married, your partner’s interest in your estate may be open to challenge from your next of kin, who may or may not be sympathetic.

Even if you are married your surviving spouse may not inherit all of your estate if you die intestate (without a Will). The precise outcome will depend on the intestacy rules.

In the absence of a Will, the legitimate or reasonable expectations of children or grandchildren may be frustrated.

We recommend making a Will to give you and your family peace of mind. Having completed your Will, you can be secure in the knowledge that your loved ones will be provided for and that you have passed on your estate in the way that you want.

It is not expensive to complete a Will and we can advise on all the matters you may wish to consider when you do so.

If, at our initial meeting, it appears that your position is more complex than anticipated then we will tell you of any additional likely fees before we proceed. If you decide that you do not wish to have a Will prepared by us, then we will not charge for that initial meeting.

Please feel free to call a member of our team for an initial discussion about your requirements (free of charge).
